“A_Merica, tells the story of Papa Buono, a former sailor stuck between the four walls of a shack, and Nino, a never-grown-up orphan who lives with him, forced to sell water and work as zammù at night at the port to earn a few coins. Two distant worlds, united by fear and loneliness, but especially by the misery they live in and from which they defend themselves. Papa Buono and Nino, the unstoppable desire of the tale of elsewhere, the promise of redemption: the A_Merica. Along with the characters, we find St. Nicholas: placed on the artarinu, he watches and assists, giving the audience a high view of this story, sometimes reflective, sometimes playful.”
