Silvia Gribaudi
In SUSPENDED CHORUS, choreographer and performer Silvia Gribaudi takes the stage alone, yet she is never alone. Rooted in a desire for collectivity and union, the piece proposes a renewed dialogue with the audience. The theatre, understood as a space of cohabitation between performer and spectator, becomes a place where the audience is invited to transform into a suspended, floating, plural, and necessary chorus, becoming an essential part of the work itself.
Influenced by dance pioneers such as Pina Bausch, Isadora Duncan, and Anna Pavlova, Gribaudi confronts the limitations of her fifty-plus-year-old body, finding joy and pleasure in exploring its potential. SUSPENDED CHORUS deconstructs modern standards of beauty and highlights the mortality of the body as an individual entity, while celebrating the strength and power of the collective. We are all an integral part of it.

Since 2004, she has focused her work on the social impact of the body and the relationship between audience and performer, through artistic research on choreographic language, dance, and humor. Her shows have been presented in numerous theatres and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, and America. She is an associate artist at Le Gymnase CDCN in Roubaix and at the Teatro Stabile di Torino.
