Violence, abuse, and the murder of women have not only always existed but have existed everywhere, and it is difficult to reconstruct the stories of the victims. A group of women between the ages of 15 and 80 in a country house confront each other on the past, the present, and the future, and their stories unfold through lived experiences, news reports, history, and burning current events.

Giovanni Coda is a director, video artist, and photographer from Cagliari. Following his literary and theatrical debut, in 1996 he founded V-art (Festival Internazionale Immagine d’Autore), a short film festival with a specific focus on video art. He is the creator of photography and video art installations in museums and international exhibitions, including the Video Art Biennale in Venice and Milan, Tokyo University, the Watermans Arts Centre in London, the Maison d’Italie in Paris, the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, the Teatro Vittorio in Rome, and others. His background includes an extensive list of photography, painting, electronic art, and performance collections awarded in Italy and abroad. Among his filmography, notable titles include L’Ombra del Ricordo (1996), Il passeggero (1998), Serafina (2002), One tv Hour (2005), Big Talk (2007), and Brightness (2012). In 2013, he directed his first feature film, Il Rosa Nudo (Naked Rose), inspired by the life of Pierre Seel, who was deported to a concentration camp at the age of 17 after being registered as homosexual. The film, which boasts more than twenty official selections in festivals worldwide, won (among many others) the award for Best Feature Film at the Social Justice Film Festival 2013 in Seattle, the Film For Peace Award at the Gothenburg Indie Film Fest 2014, the Best International Film Award at the 15th Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) 2014, the Gold Award at the Documentary & Short International Movie Award 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the Best Film Award at the Omovies Festival in Naples. Coda is currently working on the production of the final film in his trilogy dedicated to gender-based violence, “La sposa nel vento” (The Bride in the Wind), which addresses the theme of violence against women.
