VERONICA PARLAGRECO
The title combines the Italian words “strati” (layers) and “stati” (states of personality), symbolizing the layered states we adopt to navigate social expectations. St(r)ati is a dance solo about finding oneself while facing the pressure to fit in. It shows the layers we create to meet others’ expectations, often hiding our true selves. The performance highlights the struggle between meeting these demands and daring to be vulnerable.
Inspired by Brené Brown’s idea of “daring greatly,” St(r)ati moves from feelings of confusion and anxiety to acceptance and self-love. It tells a story of rediscovering one’s true self and encourages others to embrace who they really are.
