ORATORIA

By Anna Dankova
BULGARIA

Oratoria is a contemporary performance that traces the evolution of language. Using only intonation and gesture, it transforms voice into music and movement into dance, recreating a universal and instinctive proto-language. From a newborn’s cry to elderly voices, from tribal sounds to urban rhythms, the performance spans eras and ways of life, blending genres—from opera to trash culture. Oratoria reflects on language by stripping away superstructures and meaning. When you truly know what you’re saying, words become unnecessary.
