Storia di un Ruscello

ERICA MEUCCI

“When you enter an environment where there are birds, insects, or animals, they listen to you completely. They receive you. For the creatures inhabiting that environment, your presence could mean the difference between life and death.”
— Pauline Oliveros

Storia di un ruscello is a tale told through images, a dance written for a performer and a stone. It marks the first authored work by Erica Meucci.

The piece draws inspiration from the ecological ideas of the anarchist geographer Élisée Reclus, who believed that in order to reposition ourselves alongside other living beings, we must recognize our own vulnerability and exposure to danger, freeing ourselves from notions of domination and entering into relation with the environments we cross, allowing us to be shaped by them.

Reclus’ thought weaves together with a real event: the loss of an animal in the forest and its finding in the waters of a waterfall.
