What happens if we resist the temptation to complete a gesture too soon, and instead allow ourselves the time to contemplate and expand the space from which movement arises?
Mute is born from the desire to celebrate the origin of movement, capturing the potential and generative force of the space from which it emerges. The work turns its gaze toward the relational space between bodies, paying attention to the continuous silent dialogue with the points and places of contact with the other.
The matter of origin thus surfaces as a constant desire for conjunction, and as a force capable of transforming the in-between space into a tactile, resonant pathway of connections

Martina Gambardella, engaged in dance, explores the body’s spatial potential through relationships with other people and the environments she inhabits. She trained in Leeds at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and in Milan at the Centro Internazionale di Movimento e Danza, earning in 2016 a Postgraduate Diploma in Developing Artistic Practice in London.
